Video Hosting & Website Integration

  Hello, I need a website with a members only area where I can host a full video library with over 100 videos and upwards of 2GB per video and I’d like that video library to be displayed in categories (i.e. in groups of classes) and searchable by members. Is that possible with WordPress and also would you advise a specific plugin? Is there a way I can start to build the website and then transfer the domain once it’s up and running? I have the website live with Wix currently and need to keep that running while I build this one.

  When you start a site here, we give you a free subdomain to build it under. You won’t need to transfer the domain until it’s done.

  As for videos, we offer https://wordpress.com/support/videopress/ and you can add as many users with upload capability to your site as you want, but we do limit file uploads to 1GB and have overall storage limitations detailed per plan at https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  Thank you. Is there a particular plug in that you would recommend for the video hosting? I need the files to be more than 2gb and for members to be able to search within a full video library

  I’m afraid I can’t recommend any platform in particular but, you can ask at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.

  Most folks in these forums have a free WordPress site hosted here with us, and thus can’t install plugins without upgrading. And since the upgraded sites come with direct support, those users don’t typically hang out here. So if you’re looking for plugin recommendations, you’ll likely find more relevant information if you’ll try the other forum.

  Hmmm….maybe I’m not getting your quest right, but –
  why not have an account on Vimeo and embed on your site?
  You can make that account privat and choose the (only) url to which the
  videos can be embedded.
  Sorting in groups should not be a problem on a site – just some work :)
  2 GB pr video is quite a lot – and 100?
  Storage? Bandwidth?
