Hi

I am still trying to get used to my site, but please could you tell me how I can get a Video link into my blog posting please?

I have inserted the link and the ‘hand’ comes under neath, but nothing is there….

Its quite frustrating :( can anyone help please before it drives me insane!

This is the link to support documentation. The entries contain instructions, illustrations and even video tutorials. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ I cannot give you a link to a specific entry there as you provided no details.

Do you really only want to post a link to a video located on another site?
If it’s the former then > http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

Or do you wish to embed a video in your wordpress.com blog?
If so where is it from (Google, youtube, etc) ? http://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=video

Well, tell us what kind of video you are trying to insert. If it’s online, give us a direct link to it on Youtube or whatever. Then we can give you more specific instructions.

Oh my … I see that there’s no name of the kind of video, or a link to the specific video as yet. But, we have made some progress, as we now know you want to embed a video in a post.

Well I was going to do that guys, but i seem to be having trouble getting the page up now….:( when I go to properties to click the URL it says there is a problem with the site and internet explorer has shut it….

I know this is off subject a little, but do you know of any other way to get the URL?

Yeah what I was wanting to do, was I have written a peice on the subject and wanted to show the video in that peice? A bit like this one:

Now I am aware this says slide show etc…but it worked perfectly…and I sometimes like doing this sort of thing, to report on things and give my thoughts?

While I am on this subject….I have heard many times that word press is increbily easy to use….of this I have no doubt…and I love the site…but I have to say, I am having a lot of trouble understanding how to use it :( unless I am just plain thick lol!

I have the pen template…and although it still looks pretty ‘messy & disorganised’ I am hoping it will get easier….?

Is there anywhere to learn quicker LOL!

Like I said, we need to know what video you’re trying to post. Does it exist already online? If so, give us the URL. If trying to open the web page it’s on is causing your computer to become unstable and crash, don’t use that video; it’s not safe.

Not the original one I wanted BUT, like you said, it was doing that, making my computer crash…well it kept saying, internet explorer was having problems with that webpage, so it has shut it…it was only when I tried to get the URL though…and it was Sky news, so I would have thought it was reputable…?

Anyway, the other link i have given you will have to do :D

Its drving me mad, all I want, is to say in the right hand side is the link to David Caruso’ web page over on my space but when I do what it tells me in the colomns, I get the link AND writing up, and it looks most untidy :( NOW I cant get rid of ths other blog writing thing :(

We volunteers are not in a position to comment on whether the use of the wordpress.com logo can be used on an unidentified template and on an unknown site. Have you looked into the legal implications that are attached to using logos, trademarks, and copyrights, without securing prior written permission from their owners?

Yeah they have given a page where you can use them as far as I can see :D

Did you check what I asked about my blog please and the two blog rolls that are up, as this is getting rather frustrating to try and fix :D

Simple answer: that video is not embeddable. The people who posted it do not want you to have it on your blog.

Unless you’ve set something different (like made posts Sticky) the most recent post will always come up on the top of the page.

Don’t delete ANYTHING yet. You don’t know WP.com well enough to know whether or not something is broken. Just show us a DIRECT link to the post or blog you’re talking about every time and tell us what you want to achieve. Then we can give you solutions.

ok thank you for that :D How will I know if a video is embeddable then…? Sometimes I like to inc videos IN posts as well…..

No, I wanted like the current date always to be first to view? Ie todays post to be at the top of the page, then tomorrow, tomorrows date will be at the top?

PS do I always have to have that rating number next to a link please? It looks like I have been writing something and half of it has been left off. :(

If you read the links TimeThief posted above, they will show you all the formats that can be put in our blogs and how to put them in.

As for the date showing, the most recent post is on top. If you post today, today’s post will be on top, unless you’ve done something to make it sticky or changed the date/time of the posts. If you want today’s date to show, write and post something today.
