video press

I am trying to add closed captions to my video press video. I cannot find if that is an option using video press and if so what file type do you need the captions to be in. Also, if you allow captions do you allow only one or can there be multiple. For example I want both English and Spanish subtitles for my video.

Do you witness that option being stated in the relevant support doc here https://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/#frequently-asked-questions? If not then it doesn’t exist here at WordPress.COM.

Hi there,
VideoPress does not support closed captions, so you won’t be able to add subtitles to VideoPress videos. If you want to do that, I suggest instead embedding your videos from another service that does support closed captions. You can find a list of all the services from where we support video embeds here:

Thank you for answering my question. That is a shame I wanted to use the analytics to count views separately from our youtube channel.
Closed captions and subtitles are important for accessibility for the deaf community as well as for language access.

I understand, and I’ve added a feature request for this to be added to VideoPress, but I can’t tell you if and when such an enhancement will be added so for now using a different service is the only option.
