Video Processing Issues
-
Hey,
I am having the same problem as nnoborigin, who back in December 2009 posted this:
“Hey everyone,
I bought the video upgrade a few hours ago and I wanted to test it with a first minute-long video i made in .m4v format (about 15M). It uploaded fully and it could be downloaded again without any error. However the media library said, the video would be processed, even an hour after upload. So I deleted it and I tried again with a second minute-long video in .mov format (about 8M) and it’s the same problem. So if the video would have finished processing, it would a appear here: http://nnoborigin.wordpress.com … the source file, i uploaded, is located here: http://nnoborigin.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/coming-soon-a-new-blogpost.mov
Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help me?”I too have posted a video that uploaded, but has since been stuck on the processing stage, where it says that the video will be ready in “about a couple of minutes.” It has been like this for hours, and this is already my second attempt at uploading a video, as the first one encountered the same problem. Do videos normally take this long to process? Or is this an actual issue, be it user specific and/or site wide? I just purchased the videopress upgrade, and if this is what I can expect every time I try to upload a project, I might just be better off getting a refund. Any and all help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You need to upload a video, not a source file. So if you downloaded that video to your hard drive, you’d end up with a .mov file. Best bet is to convert the .mov video to an .mp4 video…they seem to upload better than .mov files. Also, .mp4 videos use less space than .mov videos. Same thing with .m4v videos…I always convert those to .mp4 videos to upload.
Hope this turns out to be of some help to you.

I’ve experienced the very same problem with .mov files that I’ve uploaded, with the video becoming endlessly stuck in the “processing…ready in a couple of minutes” stage. Those are surely among the longest couple of minutes I’ve ever lived through. I’ve also encountered difficulties in trying to upload mp4 audio files. MP3s work fine; mp4 audio doesn’t — even though WordPress claims that it’s a supported format.
The dirty little secret is that neither .mov video files nor mp4 audio files seem to be viable media formats for WordPress. The company really ought either to acknowledge that fact and try to do something about it, or alternatively, remove those two formats from the list of files that it supports.

I’m also having the same trouble and have sent a message to Support. Golddiggers, was your problem ever solved?
