Video summary: what's the difference between "impressions" and "plays"?
-
When I look at the “video plays” section of my stats, and click on the “summary” tab, there are “impressions” and there are “plays.” What’s the difference? And do these plays count for just my wordpress video uploader vids or for the youtube videos I’ve included in my posts too?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Stats are shown for the current month, but the title Video Plays can be used to dig deeper into VideoPress stats. An Impression is counted when your video is loaded on an embedded web page. Plays are counted when a visitor actually clicks the play button on the Flash video player. Minutes display the total time videos have been watched. Bandwidth is the amount of data that has been transferred while viewers watched your videos. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/#videopress-stats

Thank you for always replying Timethief! I have a follow-up question that may be stupid…what is an “embedded web page”? Does the term include all video I put on my blog, from my own flash videos to the youtube videos I’ve included? Why is the number for “Impressions” so much higher than “Plays”?

I click into lots of posts and pages that have videos embedded into them but I don’t click each and every video and watch it.
The embedded web page is either the post or page that the video is in.
When anyone clicks into that post or page it’s an Impression.
When they click the video and watch it’s a Play.
