video upload not working (have paid for videopress)

hope someone can help, I’m slowly going mad…
I paid for videopress. In the past I uploaded videos on my wordpress.com blog by adding media, from computer, then give the file name and hit upload. Now this is not working. I hit upload and it says it’s uploading, but nothing happens. I monitor my network connection through a firewall (which is fully open for this test) and it shows that the browser is not uploading anything. it’s not doing anything, it just says uploading and hangs.
I have tested this on 2 PCs (both running XP) and using 4 (FOUR!) different browsers, IE, FF, Chrome and Safari! Whatever it is, it’s not a browser issue. I’ve tried it on 2 different internet connections (WiFi and 3G). So I’m stumped, it’s not the connection and it’s not the browser. It’s doubtful that it’s the OS.
Can there be a problem on my videopress subscription causing this? I’m subscribed till May and have 900mg available (uploading a 30 meg file).

just adding to my own post; when I upload using Flash uploader as opposed to browser uploader option, it cycles through 0% – 100% in about 10 seconds. there’s no way it can upload 35 meg this fast (and I’m monitoring the net traffic anyway), so it’s as if the browser actually thinks it’s uploading but really nothing is being uploaded.
again this happens in 4 different browsers.
