Video views tracking

  I was asked to create a site with videos for the main content. I am brand new to wordpress but was asked to accomplish 3 main tasks with the site.

  1. Create a log in for subscribers (I found the plugin for this)
  2. Track login/logout times for each user (also found the plugin for this)
  3. Track how many times our videos were viewed and by which user.

  My question is, can number 3 be accomplished with a wordpress plugin or possibly with google analytics?? I’m fairly new to wordpress and we don’t have the budget for a programmer.

  Additionally, how many different users can be simultaneously logged in to the site?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  For answers to 1 & 2 read what follows.

  There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

  If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database.   There is no such ability on blogs hosted by WordPress.COM.

  Thanks for your reply. We would be signing up for the the $300 dollar a year business account. So the only way to gain access to the plugins is to setup the wordpress.ORG with a webhost and not the .com? I guess I don’t understand the difference between the .org and .com

  How many secure logins would we be able to have simultaneously?

  Ok I think I understand. There are NO plugins on wordpress.COM to do the things we need, only on the .ORG. So we wouldn’t need to pay $300 a year for the .com, and instead run the .org with a hosting service. Sound about right?
