  Your instructions are incorrect. There is NO WAY to add a YouTube video using the video widget. Could you please explain why you removed that functionality that was working fine? Now it does not work. There is no way to post a YouTube video via URL to the WP video widget.

  You are correct, this is a known bug that has been reported:

  Hello @casorosendi,

  Considering you have followed the given instructions to add a youtube video and still not able to accomplish this, I tried this on a test site and I was also unable to add a Youtube video to the Video widget, using the “Insert from URL” option. Multiple attempts gave the following error message:

  Sorry, we can’t load the video at the supplied URL. Please check that the URL is for a supported video file (.mp4, .m4v, .webm, .ogv, .flv) or stream (e.g. YouTube and Vimeo).

  I have tagged this post for staff’s attention. Someone from the staff should be able to look into this.

  Alternatively, here is another trick I tried and I was able to successfully add a youtube video. I tried adding a Youtube video in the widget area by using the Youtube shortcode in a text widget instead. It worked just fine.
  Quoting the below passage from the adding youtube videos support page:

  Depending on the location of your theme’s widget areas, you can also embed YouTube videos in your sidebar or footer by copying and pasting the shortcode into a Text Widget. You will need to use this format:
  [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Oh12ROTQCE%5D
