VideoPress – Don't require password

  I am trying to use videopress on a self hosted site.

  We have many (20-40) content authors whom I would like to give the ability to upload/post videos.

  When they click the VideoPress icon in the post window, it asks for a WordPress.com user name and password . I don’t want to give our WordPress.com password to everyone.

  Is there a way to hard code the username and password into the VideoPress plugin so that it doesn’t ask for them?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I don’t use it so I’m wondering if there isn’t an answer to your question in the support documentation.

  Thanks again. I looked through all of the support documents I could find, including the links you gave me and couldn’t find it. I think the docs are geared towards WordPress.com users where this wouldn’t be an issue.

  The videos can only be uploaded through the WordPress.com account that has the upgrade.

  There are two things that I can recommend at this point:

  1. Upload all of the videos yourself.

  2. Create a “throw-away” WordPress.com account that I can move the upgrade to.

  Thanks Mac. I may have to look into a different video solution.

  I realize that Videopress is geared towards individual bloggers or WordPress.com users so I’m probably trying to stretch it too far.

  Our content authors already complain about having multiple usernames and passwords so adding another isn’t something I’m eager to pursue.

  I work for an organization in a similar position using Storify.com. What they’ve done is create one username and password specifically for general staff use. As long as you trust your staff, it works fine, but it IS a risk.
