VideoPress Thumbnail
-
Sometime today, WordPress.com did something with VideoPress.
For embedded videos, the thumbnail image is now somewhat dimmer than before and is NO LONGER the customized “captured thumbnail” that I select for each video at my blog.
Please correct this problem ASAP.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The same thing happened to my blog. Why? What’s going on? Can someone clarify this matter, please? Thanks.

I found this blog article indicating that WordPress.com has announced a “complete overhaul of VideoPress”; refer to https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/07/01/videopress-next/
Well, they have also introduced a critical error by not recognizing blogger’s custom thumbnails. I have tried to inform WordPress through 3 different mechanisms of this problem, but I have yet received any response.

Hi skyvisionsolutions. Thanks for the link. Let us hope that they solve this issue as soon as possible.

I’m going to add an additional noted problem with “new” VideoPress to the list that previously was not a concern. When using Internet Explorer 11, at least for me, my own videos can no longer be expanded to full screen. A video in fact goes to a very tiny spot in the upper left hand corner and 99.9% of the screen is black. When switching to Firefox, the video does expand as expected when desired.
The problem with custom captured thumbnails not being recognized remains.

The videos on my blog expand but to a black screen. I can hear the audio from a black screen, which I need to press the Esc key to exit. What’s going WordPress? I had to spend $ 99.00 for the premium upgrade in order to add videos to my posts and now these are faulty. C’mon! Resolve the issue ASAP. Thanks.

Disable the new VideoPress immediately until you have debugged.
I have made mention of a couple of prior errors but now was made aware of a critical error where I now consider you liable for any damages.
Many of my videos are copyright protected and are not intended to be shared.
I was made aware that you can now just right-click on a video when playing and “save as” even though I have NOT enabled sharing in any way. This is horrific. I am going to have to disable all videos at my site until fixed.

In trying to keep others informed with regard to potential VideoPress issues, I am providing a link to another problem I encountered; see: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-videopress-performance-issue?replies=1#post-2421789

I am also getting the same problem of a video embedded in a blog turning the screen black when expanded to full view in IE11. The video had been functioning perfectly for over a year until the new VideoPress was introduced. If the URL of the video is pasted in a new tab it function perfectly when expanded.
I also tried viewing my same blog using Google Chrome and it works perfectly both expanded and contracted.

Additional new problem noted at: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/videopress-timer-not-advancing-when-playing-videos-with-ie11?replies=1
I’m in the process of uploading all my videos to Vimeo Plus; I can’t deal with all these problems with no resolution.
