VideoPress was working on WordPress but has disappeared
-
We paid for VideoPress and uploaded several videos to our WordPress site and embedded them in several posts. You can see this in all our posts (and the embedded video is branded ‘VideoPress’.
Suddenly we find we’re unable to upload videos and keep getting forwarded to upgrade to Premium. Checking ‘My Upgrades’ shows a ‘Space Upgrade’ for $60 which we didn’t purchase. It should be VideoPress. Additionally, the time hasn’t run out as it’s supposed to expire in August I believe.
This is a big problem as we rely on VideoPress to upload videos for our blog, which people rely on. Please would you advise how we can rectify this problem?

I’m happy to look into this for you. Could you please reply to this thread with the account that owns the space upgrade? We’ll need that confirmation from there before making any changes. Thanks!

I see what happened.
You did have a Video Press subscription on this site, but it belonged to a user who has since been removed. Since the subscription expired, the best thing to do is just repurchase the subscription with the account you want it to belong with. I recommend you make the purchase with the account that owns the space upgrade, but that is up to you.

Thank you for your response. It’s a bit confusing because the credit card and username we used has not changed, so I’m not sure why the user would have been removed. Any ideas why this might be? We don’t want to end up paying for an upgrade we’ve already paid for.

It’s a bit confusing because the credit card and username we used has not changed,
The site in question currently has two usernames with admin access and used to have a third. It’s possible that you created multiple accounts with different usernames and currently always log in with the same one.
We don’t want to end up paying for an upgrade we’ve already paid for.
I am absolutely sure the Video Press upgrade you were using has expired, so there is no danger of a double payment.

Hello again,
Your comments about our subscription don’t seem to tally with the billing info, which clearly shows an audit trail for the same product going back to August 2014 and for which another bill is due in July 2015. We’ve only ever purchased Videopress for this account, never a space upgrade, despite what it says on the billing page. Also, the Videopress upload function was working perfectly well until just the other day, which seems to substantiate our understanding of the situation. And if we now have to purchase a new Videopress subscription, a service for which we’ve already paid, it will be much more expensive. I can confirm that we do not have multiple accounts. The two admin users are essentially the same person, so there is no confusion arising between them. -
I’ve been here nine years and you have always needed BOTH Videopress AND the space upgrade in order to host videos. Videopress does not work without it.
-
Not doubting you at all just wondering, then, how we’ve managed to have Videopress active on the site?
-
lizthefair, thanks for looking into this. We’ll move to a premium plan as we’re very happy overall with the service. Just a bit confused about this particular aspect. As you say, it’s probably a product of us moving our content from one site to another.

This particular trail was a complex one. If it helps, the VideoPress subscription was originally purchased from a third admin account for a different site, transferred to you site and then that admin was removed. So maybe you added the third user just for a short time in order to move the subscription?
In any case, since you have a space upgrade, you are eligible to buy a VideoPress upgrade on its own if you aren’t interested in the full premium plan. If you want to go that way and need help processing the upgrade let me know.

Yes that is exactly what we did and obviously where the confusion started. So thanks again for looking into it.
If you could point us in the right direction for the VideoPress upgrade on its own, that would be excellent, as I don’t think we need any of the other features offered by the premium plan at present.

You should see individual upgrade options here. If not, let me know
