Why are videos are not uploading but ‘placeholders’ are created instead when I imbed a mix of photos and videos to the blog? Do I need Videopress?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello @yumummy!

What type of video are you uploading? Are you wanting to host the video in your media library or are you linking to a video hosted elsewhere?

According to the Videos support page:

If you want to upload and host your video files on your blog, you can do that with VideoPress, which is included with WordPress.com Premium and WordPress.com Business plans.

Since your posts are protected I was unable to see the ‘placeholder’ you mentioned.

(In case you need it, here’s the page with details about your theme: Sketch.)

    Hi @yumummy

We can’t tell how it looks like since your post are password protected, however using VideoPress is definitely the way to go!

You will have to upload your video to your WordPress site first before you can embed videos to your blog.

VideoPress is currently available on the Premium and Business plan, mentioned on the Pricing page.

    Hope this clarifies!
