Videos not being embedded anymore?

    When I look back at previous posts I have made, the embedded YouTube videos now appear only as a link. And this also happens when I make new posts.

    Is there some kind of problem with WordPress that is causing this, or is this just the way it is now?

    Are you creating posts at > Dashboard > Posts > Add New

    Have you tried using the youtube shortcode? I suggest you do because it works every time for me. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/#video-customization-options

    I am creating posts from Dashboard and everything like you say, just the way I always have done.

    Even the formatted videos from yesteryear, now only display as a YouTube link and not an embedded video. I first noticed this when I saw a lot of clicks on a YouTube video, which normally doesn’t happen. Normally people play the video within the blog, which doesn’t count as a click.

    So I investigated, and all my embeds were not links and not embedded. Weird.

    Have you imported content into the blog?

    Please post the URLs of the posts in question with youtubes that are displaying only as URLs.

    I usually insert videos, as Import Media>YouTube>Click on the video I want>Insert

    It appears in the create page as a link, but when you save the post and preview post, or publish it, then the video should always be embedded. It has been like that for nearly a year since I started using WordPress.

    I use the shortcode and it works every time. I cannot fathom why anyone mucks around with the process you are using.

    Edit the post and without changing anything at all use the shortcodes I provide below placing each one on a single line all by itself.

    Emirates A380 from Dubai to New York-JFK, from seatgurus:

    Thank you for your help. I think this problem has now been solved (at least for the time being), and I have applied the same codes to other videos.

    But it doesn’t explain why it all suddenly changed? Why did they go from embedded to mere links? I never changed anything.

    Depending on the browser you use, some URLs will be pasted in as links because it tries to “help” you.

    If the pasted video URL is colored and underlined, just highlight it, and hit the toolbar button that looks like a broken chain to unlink it, then the embed will work as expected. :)
