videos not responding

I embedded three youtube videos in one post, and did it according to the instructions, like this:
[youtube=http://youtube.com/w/?v=********]
But the videos are stuck. I only see white squares. Am I trying to embed too many videos in one post? I would appreciate any help.

Yes, you are trying to embed too many YouTubes at one time for your computer or connection to handle. What I often find is that if there are a half-dozen vids on one page, it overloads something and I can’t get any of them to come up: either there’s just an empty space, or there’s a white box. I have slow cable for my connection; if you have dialup, stick to one YouTube per page, meaning if your blog displays ten posts on its front page, you can only post one video per ten blog posts, just to be safe.
Clear your browser cache, sign out and do a restart. Or you could clear the cache and do a forced reload, but I have better luck with a restart. Report back.

Well, I did a cache cleaning and a restart, but nothing helped. I use a pretty fast cable connection (1.5 kb).
I deleted two videos and tried to upload only one, it didn’t work either.
Now, I already had two videos embedded on the page, working fine. I deleted one of them in order to upload the new post. and it didn’t help either! So I don’t know what the problem is.
I ended up deleting all videos in the post and putting links instead. Bummer.Thanks.

Usually what we recommend is using the more tag within your post and placing the YouTube video code after the more tag. That way all those videos don’t load within a single page like your home page like that.
Plus you get more page views that way. :)
Hope this helps,

Ok, I’ll try that next time, thanks. (I wasn’t aware of this option).
Maybe next post. I already spent waaaay too much time on this one. I still think that it’s funny how earlier I had two working embedded videos on the page and now It’s not possible. Oh, well… -
Hi there-
drmike, could you tell me what you mean by “the more tag”. I’m reading this to help resolve the fact that I’m having video problems as well, and, well, I don’t know what you’re referring to. Perhaps it’s unneccessary anyway….My site is steegar.wordpress.com and I typed:
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO-2Dh4kkCw]
to post a video. I see nothing but a big white blank space. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

The video works fine for me on YouTube. But the format you have the code in on this page is NOT the format that’s showing on your post; it’s the embed code. And there are a LOT of extra tags on it. It looks like this:
<p><code></code><code><span style='text-align:center; display: block;'><object width='425' height='350'><param name='movie' value='http://www.youtube.com/v/qO-2Dh4kkCwcodecode'></param><param name='wmode' value='transparent'></param><embed src='http://www.youtube.com/v/qO-2Dh4kkCwcodecode' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' wmode='transparent' width='425' height='350'></embed></object></span></code></p>And there’s no way that should be there. Try stripping it out in the Code editor and re-doing it.

That’s very weird.
What I typed to you is exactly what I typed and see till on my editing page!i don’t know where all that stuff came from. however, I typed in the address manually (no cut and paste of the address) and while my video’s not up, I at least have the correct window and a youtube icon. So there was something funny going on.
I’ll keep trying manually from here. I assume I’m at least on the right track now…

And the “More” tag that Dr. Mike refers to is the dotted-line icon above the posting box; when you click on it it inserts a page break, so that everything after that point is on its own page. It helps keep your blog loading time down if you post a lot of videos and music, but I find it lowers your hits because most people won’t click through to see the video.
You can see all the icons explained here:
