Videos not shown using Microsoft Edge

I’m experimenting some issues using Microsoft Edge with Block Editor. Follow what’s happening:

    Microsoft Edge

Google Chrome (the same in Firefox and Opera)

See the diference? In Edge if I past a Youtube link simply doesn’t appear*, while in Chrome works fine. In Edge, it’s only possible to include Youtube videos if I use the classic editor, but now the change process to it is kinda slow to do often.

    * if I try to preview, it shows an error that there’s no post available.

I’m using the ‘Baskerville 2’ theme (WordPress free), but no matter the theme happens the same. While the Edge seems isn’t compatible with WordPress, I’m using the Chrome but if possible check it out what’s going on.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Does this issue only happen inside the editor itself, or does the video also not appear after you publish the post?

What version of Edge are you using? The legacy version that originally came out with Windows 10, or the new Chromium version that’s replacing it? What is the version number of the Edge browser you have installed on your computer?

    Hi! Thanks for your reply

    About your questions:

1- “What version of Edge are you using? The legacy version that originally came out with Windows 10, or the new Chromium version that’s replacing it? What is the version number of the Edge browser you have installed on your computer?”

Version 87.0.664.55. By the way, I only started use Edge when switched to Chromium based.

2- “Does this issue only happen inside the editor itself, or does the video also not appear after you publish the post?”

    – When I try schedule/draft (I’m the admin/owner of this blog)

    – If I try preview:

Like I said, this only happens on Edge: other browsers, works fine (and I’m using Chrome, instead)

For example, doing the same but in Chrome (the ‘preview the post’):

  • How strange. I did a little testing on a Windows computer and noticed that when I copy and paste the video URL, Microsoft Edge copies and pastes more than that.

I pressed CTRL+Shift+V, though, and that embedded properly. Can you give it a try?

@supernovia thanks for reply, and also it wasn’t successful (despite I used it to other operations).

One last possibility that I hadn’t tried (and I’ve never think about it), resulted in the solution: I logged out and then login again – voilà! Now it’s working properly.

Looks like the ‘Occum’s Razor’ happened in my situation: “the simplest explanation is usually the right one” :-)

Thanks everybody for the help. If this situation happens, do this.
