Videos with premium

Hi. I just upgraded to premium last night so I could upload videos but it’s not letting me do this from the wordpress app. If this is not something that is possible I would like to drop back down to basic level and I’ll just embed videos from youtube. I would prefer to have it just on this blog but if isn’t an option I’d rather drop it down. Please advise me. Thanks.

    Hi there,

VideoPress is included in WordPress.com Premium, and the VideoPress addon does indeed allow you to upload video to your blog via the WordPress mobile app. I did notice that you have two blogs, and it is of note that the WordPress.com Premium upgrade only applies to one site (in this case, http://laurenqueenofherworld.wordpress.com/). If you were trying to upload a video to your other blog, then you would not have been able to as the upgrade was not active there.

No I only need the video on the one. Are there instructions on videos? Perhaps I was doing it wrong?

We don’t have any help article on how to use the video upload function in the WordPress App at this time, no.

Were you using an iPhone or an Android? I personally use an iPhone and when I want to upload a video, I go in to the blog which I want to upload to (so http://laurenqueenofherworld.wordpress.com/) and then click Posts. I click the “+” icon in the upper right to create a new post and then write out the post which I want to create. Once I’ve done so, I then click the filmstrip icon in the lower icon tray. When prompted, I select that I want to “Add Video from Library” (though you can take a new video), and then navigate to the correct video in my phone’s history. It will compress the video and upload it. I can then publish my post!

    Hope this helps!

iphone 5. Ok well this is what I did so perhaps it’s more of a problem with the video than the app! I’ll try again. It was a long video, I asked my daughter to make the video short but it was 6 minutes long. Is there a limit on size?

Yes, that is indeed probably it. We limit upload sizes to 1Gb on the desktop interface, so it’s going to be absolutely no bigger than that on the app and possibly smaller. A 6 minute video, depending on the quality, could indeed be pushing that size limit.

Ok I uploaded the 6 minute video from my desktop and I was able to upload a very short video from my iphone. My 7 year old had the phone held up and down so the video is of course the wrong direction, which is fine and I’ll tell her not to do that in the future, and make the videos shorter. BUT – my next question is – the video is HUGE on the screen – really big and doesn’t exactly even fit in the screen. Is there a way to size the video down, the player window itself?

And it’s crashing. Perhaps again, it’s just too big.
