View Count Differing

Ok. So I’m one for crunching numbers and following stats. The total view for last month according to WordPress were 606. However, I wanted to do an experiment and track my views daily. After adding up all of my views from each individual day over the past month, I got 1200. I want to know why there’s such a big difference between my number and the WordPress.com number.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you looking at Page Views or Visitors? If I visit your site every day last month and view one Post, the count for my visits would be 31 Page Views, 1 visitor per day, showing each day, total 1 visitor per week and total 1 visitor per month

    Does that help?

When I look at my daily totals they seem to match the weekly and monthly for page views (actually I look at the averages)

I’m only looking at views. So, over the past month, I would write down the daily total of views and visitors. I understand the difference between unique visitors and total visitors. That makes complete sense, but the difference in views per day/week/month is what is confusing me. How can I have 1200 views a month (calculated that day by day) and 606 views a month when looking at it in monthly view.

OK – Page views should add straightforward, no fancy stuff,

Seems odd to me, I have flagged this for the staff to help, they can see your stats. Off by a factor of two strikes me as odd, please be patient waiting for the staff to help

I figured it out. Don’t know what was going wrong, but somehow now all the numbers line up!

I have seen where the cont for a month will change a few months later (I graph the totals for traffic) and sometimes I will see a count change when I look back a few months, but only by maybe 3 to 7 page views

glad the count came back to normal
