View entire post on a page

    I am kind of new at wordpress. I worked with Word press on a church website and was able to insert entire post on any given page. I would simply create a page, then a category. I would have the category connected to the page. Then create post, in the right column select the category for the post and walla! However, on a personal blog sight I can not do this. At the least I must be missing something. I have downloads custom menus, but not sure what to do from here. Can you help, please?
