"View Mobile Site"

Has everyone’s gray admin bar at the top of the blog been replaced with “View Mobile Site”? I don’t want to view the mobile site. I want my admin options back. They appear when I’m actually on an admin page, but when viewing my blog or any post or page in my blog, I get a “View Mobile Site” bar — and I am not on a mobile device.

I’d kvetched a bit earlier about the search bar dropping down into the blog because of the number of items on the bar, but this is worse (the letters are large & the bar is distracting). I suppose maybe clearing my cache & logging back in is in order, but this has never happened before, and it’s odd.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It won’t go away. It is of no use to me, and all the useful functions of the gray admin bar are gone unless I’m actually in an admin page.

I’m on windows XP using FF5.01 and I don’t have this problem. If clearing your browser cache and cookies doesn’t work you will need Staff help.

Yeah, it won’t go away. Oddly, it only happens when I’m on my own blog, not when I’m on someone else’s wordpress.com site or when I’m on an admin page or the forums, etc.

I even checked to make sure that I was still on “default user agent” and hadn’t somehow changed my user agent for some mobile device.

Guess I’ll have to contact staff. I’ll try completely rebooting my computer first — I’ve left that to the last thing to try.

If anyone has any ideas in the meantime, I’m running Firefox 5.0 on Win XP.

    I contacted staff.

    Okay, feeling particularly stupid now:

I had cleared only the wordpress.com and gravatar.com cookies. Suddenly I thought: I have my own domain now! (For only a week, so perhaps some part of my stupidity may be excused?)

    I went into my cookies.
    Searched for “mmadfan.”
    Found one lonesome mmadfan.com cookie.
It had the word “mobile” in the description.
    I blushed & deleted it.
I refreshed my blog. I now have my gray admin bar back — at least I’m not troubling you any longer! :)

I think the cookie was set when I clicked on one of the “clicks” in my stats to see what it meant, ’cause I hadn’t seen it before. *blush* (Yeah, curiosity is one of my flaws/virtues — that and a lousy memory!)

Why couldn’t I have thought of this before having submitted a question to staff? Needless to say, I posted & took the request back!
