VIEW SITE Button

Please put a simple VIEW SITE link inside the Dashboard right under where it says DASHBOARD. With your latest ‘fiddling’ to the login structure (presumably to make things more touch-screen enabled which is totally useless to me and everyone else I know), you have removed the view site link. Right now there is no way to VIEW SITE from inside the Dashboard. At least none I have been able to find. The simplest solution is to add a VIEW SITE link right under where the it says DASHBOARD. Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I tried to use the CONTACT US form, but it’s grayed out. Am I not allowed to ask a question because I have a free site? If that’s the case, how do I report programming errors? The one error at present I wish to report is that the VIEW SITE button is missing from the Dashboard. I would ask the programmers to put a simple VIEW SITE link inside the Dashboard on the left sidebar right under where it says DASHBOARD.

Your blog URL is http://firehorsebooksblog.wordpress.com/ and by default that is the front page of your site.

The Admin login link for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

All you need to do is replace NAME_OF_BLOG with your actual blog name in the URL to get to the dashboard.

It’s easy to memorize that or bookmark the links. You can also install a meta widget on the site and login from the front page of it https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/meta-widget/

I tried to use the CONTACT US form, but it’s grayed out.

There is no phone support but for all the support options when you have technical support issues
    see https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/

See here Live Chat Support https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/

If you have a paid upgrade, please use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ where you will receive a choice of having staff answer your question publicly or privately. If it’s grayed out try upgrading your browser version at http://browsehappy.com.

Thanks, Timethief, for the response and information. I needed those contact support links. <smile> As for the login issues, yes, I know how to do that. The simplest method is to enable that META stack, so you can always login/logout from the website. What I’m talking about is working from “inside the Dashboard” post login. When I’m working on pages and posts, I like to toggle between the Dashboard and the site, hitting the refresh button to see the updates. That’s twenty year old habit, admittedly, but it’s how I work. Then a few days ago the VIEW SITE disappeared from inside the Dashboard. ARGH!!!

Oh! So you mean the view site link that appears in posts and pages. I’m off to see what I can see on my blogs. I’m running a PC on Windows 10 and using FF44. Hang in please as I will return.

I see what you mean using the classic editor and trying to edit a post on it. Is that the editor you are using?

That link has been removed and it used to be there. I sure as hope that Staff are not deliberately cannibalizing the classic editor one link at a time, because the new one is infantile, has many missing features and I do not use it as it is more difficult to use and publishing and editing in it take longer than they do in the classic editor. Many of us do not use the new editor and I’ll leave out the fact that that hell may freeze over before we use the new one. ;) The exodus to other platforms has been ongoing since the first iteration of the new editor.

I typed modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff response. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. Yes, I use the CLASSIC EDITOR in WordPress. The new editor appears to be geared for mobile touchscreens. I’m working from a WIN7-Pro desktop with a 27″ LED monitor. I understand the need to make more options for touchscreens and mobile tech. I get that. But mobile is one option, not the ONLY option. I refuse to get out my Samsung Nook to “thumb-monkey” updates on my blog. I won’t do it. If they force me, I’ll either jump to Blogger or get a CSS desktop website builder for my Dotster webhost.

Hang in there please for a Staff response because this could just be a bug.

  • If you click on the “my sites” link above the word “dashboard”, you’ll see a “view site” link.
