viewed or active traffic?

I looked on FAQ for awhile for this too, but no dice for me: I might have a hundred site visits in a day, but the stats say only maybe 7 views of the front (newest) post, and then has another category called active. How is this possible? If they click into the site, that’s a view, right? what makes a view active? thanks!

I’m not sure you have a WordPress.COM blog! Read the “8 things” sticky at the top of this forum and link your site to your name.

thanks! found the 8 things, linked it up, should have found that first, oops.
back to the question: the stats might show 100 visits to the site, but only 4 views of the main first newest post. how is that possible? further, what does most active post mean, when there still are very few views listed?
thanks!

Most of those views will see your main blog page rather than a specific post. If one of your readers then clicks on the link to view a post (perhaps to read the comments, because you’ve used a more tag, or because there’s a direct link to that post from another site) then that will be registered as a view of that post.
