viewers can’t access site

I have sent invites to viewers of a private site but they cannot access it. When they register and log in and follow the link, it says ‘oops page note found’

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

The site you’ve linked to is a Public site visible to everyone, but does not have anything published on it, so it says “Oops! That page can’t be found.”

What is the address of the WordPressdotcom Private site?

    It is the same: http://vculatinamericapolitics.wordpress.com

I briefly made the site public to see if that would fix the problem, it did not.

There is content on the site. I have published two posts, and one of my invited viewers has been able to log in, see it, and post a comment. But most people see the page not found page.

Hello again, have you changed something in the meantime? I now see your blog posts on when I land on the front page vculatinamericapolitics.wordpress.com, although one needs to scroll down quite a bit to see them.

Yes, I was with wordpress tech help and they told me I have to set the site to hidden or public for anyone other than myself to be able to view it. That is not what I was led to believe, i.e. that I could set it to private and only invited viewers be able to read and comment on posts.

Hello again, I apologize if I wasn’t clear earlier.

Your site has been publicly visible since my first reply. What changed for me was when I viewed your site the first time, the page I encountered said “Oops! That page can’t be found.” Now when I view your site, I see the blog and its two posts.

If you want your site to be Private and accessible to only people you invite, go to your Dashboard and change the Privacy to Private https://wordpress.com/settings/general/vculatinamericapolitics.wordpress.com and save your changes.

Your site will then have a “Privacy Notice” on it whenever anyone visits it. As an example of what people will see, here is a link to my Private test site https://sidewindertravels.wordpress.com/

In order for someone to view your Private site, they need two things: An invitation from you to view the site and a WordPressdotcom account using the email address or username that you used to invite them. If they have both those things, they can click on the “Log In” button and once they are logged in with their WordPressdotcom account (the same one you invited them with) they’ll be redirected back to you site to view it. Here’s more on inviting viewers to a private site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/

If this is still an issue for your invited viewers, please walk us through the steps that they are taking to access your site.
