Viewers not getting emails but followers do

Is there a way for viewers to receive email notifications? My followers get emails but viewers do not. Do I have to remove all viewers and re send their invitations (with instructions on how to become a follower) in order for them to receive the emails? Is there a way to view my viewers email addresses to expedite the process of having to resend invites? *Note my blog is private so only those I have invited can see it. Even my tech savvy husband is frustrated.

Hi there,
Adding someone as a viewer gives them access to your private site, but they still need to follow it as well if they want to receive email notifications or see it in their Reader feed.
Viewers can follow your site by clicking the follow button in the bottom-right corner while looking at your site. Then they can go to the Reader and click the Manage button next to Followed Sites. That will show a list of all sites they’re following and they can enable email notifications there.
Or you can add the Follow Blog widget to your site, which will allow your viewers to directly subscribe for email notifications:
