  How do I switch viewers to authors?

  If you’re a blog Administrator and you’d like to make someone a Contributor, Author, or Editor on your site, please follow the directions on adding contributors. http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
  As an Administrator of a blog, you can change other users’ roles by following the steps below.
  Head to Users > All Users in your dashboard.
  Check the box(es) next to user avatar(s).
  Using Change role to… dropdown menu, select the new user role(s) you want to assign.
  Click Change.

  Thanks for the response, but the viewers aren’t listed as users. They are listed under current site members under the privacy section. I can’t change them from there.
