Viewing a private blog
-
Hi guys, i’m a bit confused, I have set my blog to private but I want a few people to be able to view it before it goes live.
I went to the privacy settings and set it the private and added a few user names , Sarah and Mark. My question is, how do Sarah and Mark now view my blog?I hope this makes sense.
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First they need to register to http://wp.com
Then you’ll need to add their e-mail adresses to the user list
Next they’ll be able to log in using their log in details.– Lora

Yes they have to. When you were asked to add “user names”, it was their “wordpress” user name, not just their names. What I did in your situation was that I opened an account just to get a user name (when you sign in you can choose if you want a blog or not), and then I emailed the user names and passwords to them. If they can manage then just tell them to open an account, to let you know their user names so that you can add them. Hope that helps

ah ok, that sounds like a good idea, I will do that!!
Seems crazy people can’t view the blog without registering though!!!

The account here is how wordpress determines who is able to view your blog and who is not. If they did not use that then they would have to create an entire parallel system just for keeping track of who could and could not view a blog.
