Viewing a site when not logged in
-
I apologise in advance for what’s probably a really stupid question, but I only started using WordPress yesterday.
I want to show a site to a client but cannot view it without being logged in, and then it shows the ‘edit’ text etc. How can I publish the site so that it can be viewed when not logged in? The setting for my site is ‘Hidden’ as it’s confidential at present and has not been approved.(I have created a site using a free template, on a free plan, in the hope that this will be approved by a client.)
Many thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

“Hidden” doesn’t prevent the site being viewed on the web if you reveal the full site URL to your client. Only “Private” ensures no one can see the site without your permission: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Hi, many thanks for your response. Yes, I changed it to ‘hidden’ instead of Private in case that was what was making it still appear in edit mode. I just want to be able to proof the site without logging in as a user, so it appears without all the editing bits on it.
Any idea what I’d doing wrong?
Thanks! -
Is it the site listed in your first post https://beccytesting.wordpress.com/ which is clearly visible? You won’t see any “edit” buttons if you visit your site when not logged in to WordPress.com.

Hi, I am not totally sure what you mean by ‘listed’? Does it need to be part of that blog post’s contents? I have posts which are set up but I am using a static home page rather than the blog page as home page.
-
I’ve tried viewing a site on another machine, but when I log out the site disappears and goes top a generic blue WordPress page, so I think I’ve definitely done something wrong in set up?
-
Ok I’ll rephrase.
Is the site address displayed in your first post https://beccytesting.wordpress.com/ the site you need help with? It is clearly visible to me.

Hi there, yes that’s the one. Are you seeing a working site without the edit bits then?
Thank you so much for your help here! -
I did set up two blog posts when I was trying to use a different template, but in the end I took ‘blog’ off the menu. If I click on one of those blog entries listed in the edit part then I go to “https://beccytesting.wordpress.com/blog/”
Does that make a difference?

Just give them the full address https://beccytesting.wordpress.com/ You only see “edit” buttons because you are still logged in to WordPress.com. Try visiting your site when completely logged out.

Argh!! I have just tested this again on a second computer and it works fine. For some reason it just seemed to not log me out properly. I am SO sorry to have taken up your time, it’s just a very new area for me and I assumed I had set something up wrong.
Thanks again for all your help and such a speedy response. Onward!
Have a great day.
