  Is there a way to have any comments automatically appear directly after the the article without having the reader click on anything to view them?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Not at WordPress.com there isn’t. The idea is, if you have more than just a couple, nobody will scroll past them, and everyone will assume they’d somehow landed on the wrong page, rather than your main blog page.
