Good Morning –
Thanks for writing to us. After reviewing the site I am able to see what you’ve described. This is tied to a change that was recently made. I will ask the team for some more information and report back.

Hello,
It would also help if there was a way to search the list of WordPress subscribers. The function to search the email subscriber list has always existed. There has never been a way to search the WordPress subscriber list, something I found very inconvenient. I would really appreciate if you added this ability! Thank you, I look forward to your reply. i view my subscribers by clicking settings/discussion. Scroll down until you find “View your email followers”. Click that, then, at the top of the screen, click “Subscribers” (it will be followed by a bubble w/ the number of followers you have).

I have a related question – is there a way to see people who’ve subscribed to my blog but have not yet responded to the confirmation email they’re sent?
My community is non-techy, and, while i can see many visits to my “register” page, the list/number of subscribers isn’t changing. So, i’m thinking maybe they’ve just not responded to the confirmation email (and yes, i’ve asked them to also check junk mail folder, just in case…)thanks for any help

Hi there!
So it’s not possible to see the list of unconfirmed email addresses for the site owner. If someone entered their email address in the subscription form, and they are not sure whether they confirmed their subscription, there’s a way they can check.
- Have them go to https://subscribe.wordpress.com/ and enter their email address.
- A private link will be emailed to them.
- Once they go to the link, they will see if they have any pending subscriptions in the “Pending” tab. From there, they can confirm their subscriptions.
Again, this can only be done by the subscribers, not by the site owner.
If you don’t see their email address in the list of Email Subscribers on your site, it’s fair to assume that they have yet to confirm their subscription. It’s also possible that the email address wasn’t entered correctly or something similar that resulted in the email not going to the correct place. In those cases, you can ask them to try subscribing again or follow the three steps I shared above.
Hope that helps!

This is bad design. I have elderly readers, who subscribed to my blog years ago, unaware the signup widget also signed them up up a WordPress account, unless they opted out, which many older folks didn’t understand. That tricked many non-technical people into signing up for a WordPress account they never wanted, they wanted a simple email subscription, not a WordPress account.
Now these same people occasionally send me email saying they want to unsubscribe, yet I have no way of knowing if they are even subscribed? When I tell them to unsubscribe themselves via their WordPress account settings, they are unaware they even have a WordPress account! How can this be acceptable? I thought as a publisher I had a legal responsibility, due to EU AntiSpam Laws, to unsubscribe followers who requested it. In these times of inclusiveness, I think you have an obligation to the Seniors that are not tech savvy to make it possible for them to unsubscribe simply by emailing me a request to do so. Otherwise, WordPress is ignoring the needs of a significant “protected” minority group, and that is certainly not politically correct.
I look forward to your response.

That does not show you individual WordPress subscribers anymore, which is what this topic is about.

Hello Naythan,
This is bad design.
I suspect there’s been some confusion along the way somewhere. In order to subscribe to a blog, a WordPress.com account is not required.
The subscribe button will change depending on whether that email address is connected to a WordPress.com account. If there’s no WordPress.com account, then the subscriber will just need to enter in their email address.
We appreciate the feedback you’ve provided here, as we’re constantly looking to improve our features.

Aleone89: I have many subscribers unaware they have a WordPress account! It’s not until they ask to be unsubscribed and I can’t find them in my subscriber list that I suspect they have a WordPress account. Then I ask them to forward me a blog issue to confirm they are subscribed. If they send the issue, I then know they must be WordPress subscribers, receiving daily emails yet not on my subscriber list. These people subscribed in 2015/2016. They were old and still adapting the computers. Many of them subscribed to my blog and unwittingly opened a WordPress account in the process, as back then the widget offered you an option to open a WordPress account while subscribing.
So as it is now, if one of those old folks who receives the blog via a WordPress account (they didn’t even know they had) and they email me to unsubscribe them I have to go thru this process. I first ask them to forward me a blog email, and when they do, I must inform them I am unable to unsubscribe them or locate them on my subscriber list, and instruct them to use the UNSUBSCRIBE link at the bottom of the emails. That works, still it seems I should be able to view and search my WordPress followers list like I do my email subscribers; and there should be a better mechanism for responding to “unsubscribe me” requests.
Thanks for the feedback!
