viewing problems

this may be my laptop, but all of the sudden I’m not able to view any wordpress blog as a normal format. Everything appears reformatted. I am Windows 10 and I cleared my cache and settings. Other sites appear normal. Any recommendations?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I accessed your website, and the format looks normal to me. Could you provide us with a screenshot of how your website looks from your laptop?
Also, have you tried changing your browser, or using a different laptop?

Did you make any changes in the Dashboard>Pages>(select any page, say Home)>Page Attributes, there are a couple of options in Page Attributes that can change the layout of the page, Standard, Full-Width, etc. See if this helps.

You can revert if the issue is still not resolved.

Thanks for checking my site and letting me know it looks normal to you. Still doesn’t look normal on my end, nor does any wordpress site that I visit. Yet when I visit blogger blogs, they look fine.

I don’t see how I can add (upload) an image to this forum, so you can see what I’m seeing.

I did upload a screen shot of what I’m seeing on my blog into my profile photo setting. Not sure if you can see it there. Normally I see tabs for pages of a wordpress blog, but now I see hyperlinks in the upper left corner for my blog, as well as other wordpress blog. There are some other formatting issues too, which I can’t figure out why it doesn’t look normal on my end.

That’s a clever idea to upload a screenshot into your profile, although I’m struggling to enlarge it much. (If this problem persists and you want a member of staff to see a screenshot you can place it in your media library). It looks like the theme stylesheet isn’t loading and you are seeing html rather than CSS. Perhaps there is an issue with some setting on the browser you are using. I’d check the affected sites again using a different browser. https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

    hi,

I have experienced the same with some websites too.
Most of the time they were due to https issue.

This might shed some light on your issue:

I checked my site using different internet browsers and still have the same problem.

To help with sharing of screen captures of what I’m seeing, I created a page: https://quiltshopgal2.wordpress.com/wordpress-viewing-problems/

I don’t remember making any changes to page attributes. I just spent more time going back thru your recommendations for page attributes. I can add, change, delete a page, but I don’t see any option for page attributes to check?????

    hi,

I noted that you are using Chrome.
I have the same problem you have when I visit Dell website.
Chrome is blocking some scripts that it deems unsafe.

    Follow the steps in
    https://screenshots.firefox.com/7EmyLTqDaST5GdoM/null
    1. Right click
    2. Load scripts (do this only for a website that you trust)

Let us know whether the above helps.

Thank you to EVERYONE for your help on my viewing problem. Very odd as I had problems viewing via Chrome and Edge and thought it had something to do with the style sheet. After doing what I could with everyone’s help and my limited skills, I gave a try to install FireFox and it worked perfectly. Very bizarre I concluded Chrome & Edge was working fine, up until about 10-14 days ago when I had a windows update that may have triggered all of this (painful experience). But, I can now live with Firefox.

Ahh. I’m back in the saddle again and I did learn loads while pursuing everyone’s suggestion, which were greatly appreciated.

Darn, I thought this problem was resolved. While I do now have better viewing via Firefox, I’m still having viewing/formatting problems:
    1) when I open a post to edit (draft or published post) I get the error message: Failed to load content css: //s1.wp.com/wp-includes/css/dashicons.css?v=20150727
    2) when I click to add media, I do not see the image in my Gallery, but I see the file name of the images.
    3) In edit mode, the buttons in the Visual bar are squashed little boxes (no image/clipart ?), except for the button + Add and Paragraph. All other buttons are not viewable.

Currently using FireFox on a Windows 10 laptop.

Any advice? Should I post this issue under a new thread in this forum? I think this original viewing problem may now be closed (thought all my problems were resolved with FireFox vs Chrome or Edge)

Once again, I think I have this problem fixed. Searching the forum for SSL problems, I found a reference to changes in ESET and they appear to have fixed the issue. I’ll contact the ESET team (the best security SW and team ever) to see what may have recently changed, as I have used & loved ESET for years. Suspect it was triggered with the recent windows 10 update.

Anyway, here is a link to more details, should anyone be interested: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/failed-to-load-content-css/#post-3108209
