    The problem seems to be specific to the iPad app. It doesn’t happen in Safari on my iPad or in Chrome on my laptop.
    I agree that the cropping of images in the app has negative consequences for those of us who use photos (either on their own or with text) to drive traffic to our sites. Note that the problem only occurs on the feed page. If you click on the post to read more, you see the full image, regardless of whether or not the poster has provided the full text or an excerpt only. It is getting readers to make that first click that is the problem, because a large part of the image is missing. I would certainly like to see the app changed so it works the same way as the browsers.

    @junemolloy
    Thanks so much for providing more relevant information for Staff.

    On a quick scan, there doesn’t appear to be any info relevant to this particular issue on the support page. And worth mentioning, my app is up to date.

    Oh well, not to worry as Staff will eventually work their way forward to this thread, after they respond to all threads tagged for their attention that have earlier datestamps.

    I updated my Mac’s OS to the latest version of Yosemite (10.10.5), restarted Safari and loaded up WordPress, and images in the Reader are once again appearing in their full un-cropped glory. Hooray!

    It does appear there is an incompatibility problem with WordPress and some versions of Mac applications. For reference, my previous OS update was about six months ago, so it’s not like I was running ancient software.

    Wow! That’s such good news. :)

    I am using Firefox on desktop computer. I use the various tags, photography, digital photography, art and digital art to explore recent posts and find new bloggers I enjoy. I visit bloggers I enjoy and avoid the RSS feeds. These images are badly chopped.

    In simple Mass media convention terms , you have created a layout which discourages viewers from checking out new blogs in the above categories I mentioned. Any blogs featuring images to hook or convey information to interest new viewers. It would be the same situation if you only posted the top half of the letters in a sentence – incoherent message.

    WordPress gives out all sorts of tips to try to increase viewers and then turns the basic display environment into butchered nonsense.Wordpress seems to think displaying a pair of shoelaces is the same as displaying the shoes.

    The changes to enhance download on RSS feeds should only effect the feeds – as the viewer already knows what to expect. It should not effect a tag page for first time views.

    @elmediat
    There is no blog URL linked to your username.

    I am using Firefox

    Which version? Go to http://browshappy.com yo upgrade, if required.

    @elmediat
    Know that the best advertising – period – is the username link back to your own primary blog. Why? Because it is your meaningful comments made on other blogger’s posts that drive traffic back to your own blog. Like button clicks don’t do that.

    Provided it does not have mature content https://en.support.wordpress.com/mature-content/, to assign a primary blog registered under the same username account go to https://wordpress.com/me/account scroll down and enter your data at Primary Site and Web Address and then click “Save account settings”.

  • Unknown's avatar

    When we click a username link that is linked to a primary blog we are directed to the relevant gravatar page like this http://en.gravatar.com/elmediat and then we can locate the blogs registered under that username account and reciprocate by commenting on the sites we find.

    I am using the most recent version of Firefox along with Windows 10. I am not concerned with driving traffic to the blogs. My concern is from a producer of Media content and as a former Media Literacy teacher. The WordPress display runs counter to effective Mass Media Principles.

    While interaction between bloggers builds community and traffic in a very effective manner, searching out and exploring a variety of new blogs depends on effective display of Media content and an accurate message. If the message is presented through image(s), the current display format undermines and disrupts the message – there is no accurate picture in intent or tone.

    Mw too and it is Firefox 45. The rest of what you posted has already been said when you posted before. It does not address the issue at all as it does appear to be a browser related and app related issue. Be patient while waiting for a Staff response, please, as they have a backlog.

    Edit: Mw too was meant to be me too – sorry.
