Vigilance: Announcement Box: Can I change its color?

    I recently switched from Andreas ’09 to Vigilance. Is it possible for me to change the color of the Announcement Box? I saw some information about getting HEX values (I am just barely getting familiar with HTML) but am not clear whether I as a WordPress.com user, am able to use the color options to change colors.

    Changing the color of the announcement box on the Vigilance theme would require you to purchase the CSS upgrade.

    I tried some inline CSS, but couldn’t get it to take on the whole alert box.
