Vigilance header page visiblity
-
I can not remove my “quotes” page from the header. I use Vigilance theme. I went to Vigilance options in appearance and put in numbers 0-10 individually to no avail. I did as the support video (http://wordpress.tv/2009/01/14/the-pages-widget-adding-or-excluding-a-directory-of-your-static-content/) suggested, view the page to find the page number at the end, but there is no number just the word quote. I tried using quote as the page number, but did not work. I even tried adding a number to the end of the page URL, but did not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with Vigilance options. The Quotes Page you created is a static page. You need to click ” Pages” in your Admin section and open the Quotes Page with “edit” and then delete it (move to trash). Please read these entries:

I thought all pages are static? Why do I need to delete the entire page? Can I not edit the URL where it allows me to in the edit page option?

“I can not remove my “quotes” page from the header. “
In the Vigilance theme every new static Page you create will be display in the header area. That’s the way the theme is coded to display static pages.

as a side not, I can easily hide/reveal the “About” page and that does not have a number at the end of URL either.

Maybe I am misunderstanding you and missing the mark here. If so please forgive me and wait for another volunteer to help you.

I deleted the page and copied the content to a new page. Still the same issue. thanks for the attempt.

yes, I have read those two support posts before posting in the forum. I still can’t make hiding a page in Vigilance work.
-
IMHO this is very weird because I use the same theme, Vigilance. I have static pages, which I have made “private” and they do not display. I’m thinking you need Staff to sort this for you http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

the quotes page is not private because I want to put it in a text widget so need it to stay public…but yes, when I change it to private it disappears from the heading. my goal is to remove the “About” and “Quotes” pages from the header so only “Home” remains. I thought about changing its parent, but then I run into the same issue then with “About”. seems like at least one page must be tied into the “Main Page (no parent).”

I will have to compromise. Decided to change its parent and leave the About page in the header with Home. Oh, well. thanks for the suggestions.
