Vigilance Theme

@ bowmanp16

I think I can answer if you clarify your question for me. What part of the header are you questioning and what is not clear about it?

Sorry about the dbl post above. “Back” got me in trouble. –jim

Great theme! I do have an issue with the header tho:

I uploaded my own custom header and hid the header text. But now I find that I can’t click on my header to get back to my main page. I know that there’s a tab to it above the sidebar, but I would much rather have a clickable header for design and continuity reasons.

This issue has been raised previously for another theme and support appeared to resolve it easily. (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/black-letterhead-theme-question/page/3?replies=66) Can the same be done for the Vigilance theme?

Someone else posted about this in another thread earlier this month but there wasn’t much response to it. I apologise for the double posting but I thought it might be worth adding to this thread since it’s a sticky.

I’m also having a problem with the header-I can’t get the text to disappear. Is there a resolution for this?

Did you click the “save changes” button at the right end of the line of buttons after clicking the hide text button?

I just tried it on both of my test blogs with Vigilance active and it worked for me.

Also, did you force refresh the blog page? It may be that you are looking at a cached page from your browser cache.

Yes, I did click on save changes, but when I did so, the title would come back. However, it seems to be ok now, so thanks!

I am Playing with this theme at http://beachbum56.wordpress.com/
Using Opera the background color I set is being overwritten in style-options.php
Its set in the body { } correctly
then reset in #wrapper { }

body {
background: #ffffe6;
}

#wrapper {
background: #ffffff;
padding: 0 20px 10px;
border-right: 4px solid #ffc49f;
border-left: 4px solid #ffc49f;
}

What’s the point of setting the background color outside of the post area??

I love this theme but something isn’t working with the caption boxes, the frames just don’t show up once the image is published. The caption is there, the image is there, but no Polaroid style border (which I actually want). I did some research and someone mentioned pasting the following CSS code in:
.wp-caption {
border: 1px solid #ddd;
text-align: center;
background-color: #f3f3f3;
padding-top: 4px;
margin: 10px;
-moz-border-radius: 3px;
-khtml-border-radius: 3px;
-webkit-border-radius: 3px;
border-radius: 3px;
}

.wp-caption img {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
border: 0 none;
}

.wp-caption p.wp-caption-text {
font-size: 11px;
line-height: 17px;
padding: 0 4px 5px;
margin: 0;
}
but I’d like to do so without buying the upgrade. Since it seems the captions are broken by default, is there any way this can be fixed without a $15 upgrade to restore what sounds like basic functionality to the comment frames?

Thanks.

I’m also using Vigilance and I do not have the CSS upgrade and the caption boxes are appearing on my images. I see the very large images on your blog that do not have the caption boxes and wonder if that isn’t due to their size.

• Unknown's avatar

I’ll try resizing them and see if it works, but I’m not sure since even with the large images the boxes show up in the edit box.

Additionally, adding the CSS code I posted and previewing the change shows the caption boxes, but without the upgrade I can’t save the new code.

@ modernlifeisandy

My caption boxes also do properly show in this theme [Vigilance]. I’ve resorted to not using them. I’ll have to try your css solution. Thanks! –jim

@ modernlifeisandy

Your posted css code fixed that problem for me. I have found css invaluable for Vigilance tweaks. Thanks! –jim

On the monthly Archive pages, instead of seeing the posts themselves, we’re only seeing the post titles for that month with links to the individual post pages. This is fine — actually, I really like how clean it is — but I don’t like that it only lists ten titles per archive page, with a navigation button at the bottom for “older posts.” Because even though it means “older posts in the same month,” the logical way to read that is “previous month.”

Can this be fixed so that all the post titles published in a given month appear on the same archive page?

• Unknown's avatar

@flurrious-it really doesn’t have anything to do with the Vigilance theme itself. Those pages (Category, Tag, or monthly Archives) show the same number of Posts or titles of Posts that you have set up for the main page of your blog under Settings>Reading.
