Vimeo embedding

  Hi there,

  I have a series of Vimeo videos that I want to embed on my blog. I have followed these instructions, but for some reason the video I am currently trying to embed is not appearing:

  Vimeo

  As per the instructions, I have made sure that the video link is not hyperlinked and I pasted it on its own line. I am not sure what else to try in terms of troubleshooting.

  I know how to embed videos from Vimeo, but I don’t like the way they appear so I would like to try it this way. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  Yes, I figured it out! But I ended up figuring out a different way… the instructions from WordPress wouldn’t work for me for some reason.

  Thank you for following up with me. :-)

  What different steps did you take to embed a video (hosted at Vimeo) on your WordPress.com blog? I’d like to test that process to see if something is awry.

  Hi Bryan,

  Instead of copying the URL for the video, I had to go into Vimeo to the ‘Embed’ section in Settings and copy the embed code from there. There is a button that says ‘Get embed code’ and that is what I clicked on to copy the code and paste it into WordPress. It was actually a better way in the end I think, because I discovered that is also the page on Vimeo where you control how the video will look once it’s embedded, so I could do everything on one screen. Hope this helps!

  Fascinating! So, I tried a test draft post of two Vimeo videos.

  The first using the Vimeo URL of the first video on your above page, and the second with this awesome Old Spice Muscle Music video that’s making rounds:

  Here’s a screenshot of how it looks on the Edit Post screen:

  So, I’m wondering if it had to do with the permissions of your videos, as the default Vimeo embed code, such as:

  <iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/47875656" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe> <p><a href="http://vimeo.com/47875656">Old Spice Muscle Music</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/terrycrews">Terry Crews</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

  …shouldn’t work, since we don’t allow using iframe for the blogs hosted at WordPress.com.
