Vimeo embedding settings not working
-
I wanted to post a small video I have on vimeo. I completed all the settings on video for the embed code – a smaller size, autoloop, no title or logo on it. When I embed it however, it’s showing as absolutely huge, and with none of the other settings I’ve applied. I’ve tried all kinds of things from advice online but nothing is working! Also when I go back to the page where I pasted the code it seems to have shortened it and all other stuff has disappeared. Can I do anything or is this just what happens with Vimeo?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you checked out the following support page?
If you’re still having a problem, please provide the address of the post in question, so I can more closely examine the issue.

Hi,
Yes I did try that, but it made no difference – also it only covers how to change size – just still wondering why it’s not keeping the other settings I set in vimeo.
Do you mean the address of the draft?

The code I get from vimeo to embed is:
<iframe src=”//player.vimeo.com/video/118794349?autoplay=1&loop=1&color=ffffff&title=0&byline=0&portrait=0″ width=”200″ height=”113″ frameborder=”0″ webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>but after it’s saved on my post it only says :
[vimeo 118794349 w=200 h=113]
Thanks!

Looking at a few more posts here I’m imagining it has something to do with the iframe thing? Anyway around this?

Your site is responsive, which means that its contents adjust to fit the dimensions of whatever device it’s being viewed on.
Your Vimeo embeds will look best if you simply leave them, as is. All you need to do to embed a Vimeo video is paste its URL in the WordPress.com editor, and make sure it’s on its own line, as per the document I previously linked to:
However, if you want to set your Vimeo videos to always be at certain dimensions, you can accomplish this with CSS:
/* Adjust size and alignment of Vimeo embeds */ .embed-vimeo { width: 200px; margin: auto; }https://settleandchase.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php

Hi,
That works great for this particular video, size wise, but its a shame I have to set that for all vimeo videos though – I just wanted it to be smaller sized for this post as I was putting with an image and the two looked quite ugly together with a huge video. Does this mean that I won’t be able to do anything about WordPress deleting the Vimeo codes for autoplay and loop?
Thanks.

Please refer to the following thread regarding this issue:

Once you’ve entered the CSS code I provided, it will affect all Vimeo videos you place on your site.
Remember, while the videos might initially look large when viewed in a large browser window on a desktop or laptop, they will look perfect on smartphones and tablets. By using this CSS code, the videos will most likely appear diminutive on mobile devices.
Besides, having a large video is usually a desirable thing, for many users.

Ah ok, that’s great, didn’t spot that thread. Yes I can see your point about sizing..
Thanks very much for your help!
