Vimeo Embeds Suddenly Off Center

    A few days ago all my videos embedded on my wordpress.com blog from vimeo were suddenly off center. It appears that the video display box was somehow enlarged, making all the embedded videos look off-center- moved to the right about 25 degrees, leaving a black strip on the left side. I know amother person who is experiencing the same issue. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem?

    I have embedded vimeo videos into my wordpress.com blog for the last two years without any issues. This just happened a few days ago. Any tips on how to fix this would be much appreciated. I also started a help ticket through wordpress for this issue two days ago.

    HI!
    I think it’s related to a open HTML tag I recommend going to settings → Writing → Option → WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically Then save changes at the bottom of the page…

    Once that’s done I recommend opening each post one by one and then click update post if that doesn’t fix the issue then you will need to edit each post one by one then highlight everything in the editor then click the eraser icon then update post…

    I was trying the second option but I’m unclear where the eraser icon is located in the editor. I’m assuming the editor is the posting box where you write your post. Scrolled over all the icons and did not see the eraser icon??

    It seems odd that this is an XHTML issue as I never mess with the html when embedding vimeo videos. I just use the shortcut [vimeo ######]. This has worked fine for the last two years. When you get a chance could you tell me where to find the eraser icon and I will try this option.

    There’s nothing wrong with the HTML of your posts. I embedded your latest video in my test blog (after switching to the theme you’re using) and got the same problem. Maybe vimeo or WP changed something, because the Support doc on vimeo says the default width is 400 while yours (and mine) are 640. Contact staff:

    In the mentime you can correct your videos by changing this:
    [vimeo 17444072]
    to this:
    [vimeo 17444072 w=400]
    (Or 450, which is the maximum for Black-Letterhead.)

    Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I appreciate it. I will contact wordpress support and see what they can tell me. May also try asking vimeo.

    w=450 makes the video fit the box perfectly. nice.
