Vimeo or YouTube?

Which is “better” I started posting videos (voice over PowerPoint) using Vimeo a while back. Seems to me there was a reason that I choose Vimeo (Larger video size and a 12 minute video being allowed). But seems to me that YouTube would have a larger reach.

Any suggestions? Can I embed the YouTube as a larger image (some of the graphics work way better with the larger screen than the stock small YouTube) and quality to match what I am getting from Vimeo?

YouTube does indeed have a far larger reach, but I like the look of Vimeo, the quality is better in my opinion. You can change the size of the YouTube in your blog here, but I don’t think the resolution changes as well. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/

    Video Customization Options

You can specify the width and height of the embedded video by adding &w=… or &w=…&h=…to the shortcode. It will automatically adapt to your theme’s content length and give you preferred dimensions.

You can disable related videos by appending &rel=0
You can turn on the search box by appending &showsearch=1

I frankly would post the same video to both; it’s quite common and doesn’t hurt your rankings.

I’d vote for Vimeo… For $59.95 a year you can get rid of all ads and upload 5gb a week, plus the customisation options are very nice…. I just set up a client with it the other week. Plus everyone is hugely annoyed with the volume of ads on Youtube, it’s just not an option for me…

    Just my penny’s worth…

I don’t do enough to need the quick upload and 5gb – Vimeo seems to only have a bit of this is where the host is with a banner at the start – so not too bad. Looks like Vimeo still has a higher quality product so I will stick with them for the higher quality.

@raincoaster – never gave much thought to posting on both streams – if there is no search penalty then might get a bit wider circulation of my stuff and get a bit more traffic back to my site as the whole site is about boating safety as are the videos.

    Thanks much for the help.
