Vintage audio players are now dead
-
My blog is in its 13th year and I’m sticking with Classic Editor cos I just cannot fathom Blocks. But my many dozens of click-and-play audio files are all dead. How can I make them play out again? See this page, for example –

Hi there!
I actually see both audio files on that page, and they play correctly too. Were you able to fix this?
If not, could you share a screenshot of what you see on your end? You can use an online tool for that (such as https://snipboard.io/) and paste the link into your reply. It would also be good to know which browser are you using and if you tested it with another one.
Thanks! -
Hi fresatomica. My own fault! Am using Firefox with adblockers and once they are neutralised the audio plays out as normal. Sorry to have troubled you.
However under the new era of Classic Editor there is no way to add one of these audio files to a post in the “Upload Media” options. Is this still possible, please?

Ah, whew! I’m glad to hear all is working as it should :).

You will want to add the files to the Media Library, and then, in the Classic Editor, you would need to add them with the following shortcode:
[audio src="https://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2019/07/file_example_mp3_700kb.mp3"].If you decide to give the Block Editor a try, have a look at these instructions:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/audio-block/.

Great, thanks for the shortcode – worked a treat.
But no thanks, I am not geek enough to even start to understand the instructions for Blocks. They are not written in simple enough English for the layman.
Thanks again.
