Viral Marketing Help
-
If it is inappropriate to ask this question on this forum could someone please tell me quick and I’ll go elsewhere. You could also tell me where to go.
I would like some help in viral marketing. I’m about to launch a new product and I believe that a viral marketing campaign will be very important.
Use of WordPress would seem tone an obvious choice.
If anyone out that would like to give be a hand I’d appreciate it. I have lots of experience in marketing but none in viral marketing.
Note: this is a for-profit activity, thus if that does not sit well with you then stop reading.
Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Read this comparison first and then hire a web host and proceed to set you your own self hosted WordPress.ORG install.
WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The DifferencesThere is only one advertising program called WordAds at WordPress.com and it’s for blogs on their own domains. This is the homepage for the WordAds program: http://www.wordads.co/ There you will find the application page as well as FAQs.
Aside from a blog being accepted into WordAds, no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work or products created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.com

Timethief: you had previously recommended to me some of those links and I have read them. I do do what you tell me!
Obviously WordPress.org and a holster is the way to go. Do you have any hosters that you could recommend? Is that allowed here?New question: this is a question of priorities (like most things in life).
Of the other possible parts of a viral marketing campaign, which would you consider the next priority? A Facebook page? Twitter, something else?
I will NOT be selling anything from the website, just informing people that my product exists. My plan is to sell my product/idea to a BIG cheese in the business. I want to be able to show to potential buyers that lots of people would like this product. It is something nearly anyone over the age of about 15 would want/use. And you get it for free, given to you by the big company that buys it.

Hosting recommendations for self-hosted WordPress installs can be found on the WordPress.org site.
Pardon me for saying that it sounds like you are asking for free marketing tips for your future self-hosted site. Please don’t get me wrong, but IMHO you would do better to ask that in the WordPress.org or a Marketing forum than here, as the options are quite different than what is available to WordPress.com users. Best wishes for your site.

raincoaster: Thanks for offer of reduced-fee marketing help but I have learned in life that you get what you pay for, thus I will decline.
-
Oh, I don’t think she’ll have trouble charging you double or triple that if it will make you feel better. :)

Ah, I didn’t offer a reduced fee: I generally increase it for people who have learning disorders, actually. Call it $300.
