    Hello,

I am the faculty advisor for a high-school newspaper that is hosted on WordPress. There appears to be a virus on the site that I can’t figure out. When I am at school, my students and I can access the website fine without any error messages; however, a number of readers — not using the school’s internet/WiFi — have gotten error messages that point to a virus somewhere on the site. I have tried to find customer support, but can’t seem to find tech support, a phone number to call, or even a live chat feature. I wish I were more computer literate, so I am hoping someone may be able to make some suggestions or perhaps walk me through what I need to do. I did try a few extensions — Sucuri and one other — but they don’t seem to have made a difference. Thank you for any assistance/pointers you can provide.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com doesn’t have phone support, live chat is only if you have a paid plan. To get help for a free site as yours, you have this public forum.

There is certainly no virus in your site http://proconian.wordpress.com/

Some people make the mistake of adding ‘www’ to the URL. All wordpress.com subdomains are without ‘www’.

Thank you for your reply. I did just try to access the site (proconian.com) on my phone with my school’s WiFi turned off, and the site immediately directs me to various websites (rightblastermode.com was one of them). We also use Bluehost — is it likely the virus would be on that end? Again, apologies for any obtuseness on my part; I don’t have technical computer training and, since our site isn’t maintained by my school district, I have to somehow troubleshoot the problem.

So you ain’t talking about http://proconian.wordpress.com/ but another site hosted by Bluehost? If that’s the case we can’t help. You find for a self-hosted site some usefull info at https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/faq-my-site-was-hacked/
