Virus pop up on my website
-
Nope. Still no news and the problem still exists….and little feedback or info as to what is happening or being done.

I’ve had people report to me that they can’t access my website as the same pop up keeps coming up. Does appear to be when using a apple device? I need to now check and see if it does it with a laptop/desktop. From my googling of this issue it seems it’s been going on for a while. I don’t understand why it has only just happened to my website now? Very strange indeed. I thought WordPress had good security procedures?

Thanks for your patience while Staff and devs investigate this issue.
If you haven’t already done so, please take a screenshot of these ads, if possible, and upload it to your site’s Media Library so Staff can take a look. https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

I’ve added 3 screenshots to me media library. It’s also now happening on laptops as well as phones.

@thestoryofanni As @gemmacevans noted in her earlier reply, she is unable to give a timeframe for a solution. Thanks for your understanding while this is being worked on.
@edrictheatre Thanks for adding those screenshots. (FWIW I just visited your site on my PC/Chrome62 both while logged in and in an incognito window and did not encounter any virus ads.)
-
Thanks, I actually cant make it happen on my own devices but I’ve had reports of it happening to 10+ people now, on different devices. I’ve also seen it happen myself with them and they just can’t access the site so something’s obv not correct. Thanks again

@justjennifer try accessing the blogs using apple or Mac. This is where it appears for me.

Just further on my previous response. This is happening on iPhones and iPads from at least ten readers of my blog. I tested it on my iPhone and had the same problem. They clear cookies following instructions from this post or one from May and it still happens. Just on WordPress not on any other app or whilst using safari

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your screenshots, they are all being reported. If possible, would you be able to send me the IP address of the person seeing the ads (whether it’s you or someone else). This information can be found at: https://supportdetails.com/ and uploaded to your Media Library as a screenshot or pasted here.
Thanks!

So, Safari browser? Are you referring to this previous post from Staff on clearing and blocking pop-ups? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/advert-claiming-visitors-iphone-was-infected-with-a-virus-when-it-is-not?replies=10#post-2968654

@gemmamacevans I have a screenshot of my IP address but you dont provide any way of sending it to you.
This virus pops up when ANYONE tries to access my blog on an apple or Mac device, via Facebook or Pinterest and regardless of WHERE they are, so it probably doesn’t sit that it is an IP address or external location issue.
-
Also, I can access my blog from within WordPress without the virus coming up.
So, to be clear – external access via a shared link, on a Mac/apple device.
-
Hi, my users are also experiencing this pop up across several pages.
Page is: worktravelskirepeat.com

I’ve just uploaded some more screenshots, one of which shows the ip of the device that has seen the issue.

@thestoryofanni — the screenshot of the IP address can be uploaded to your Media Library, thanks!
@edrictheatre — thanks for the screenshot of your IP address.
