virus report on my blog.

Someone reported a virus hit from my blog. Help!

We don’t have a copy of the warning and have no details so we cannot help. Normally this is the result of a blogger uploading an image from a dodgy site.

If you’ve hotlinked an image from another site (and in your blogging field this is VERY common) and there’s a virus on that site, then your blog will also set off the virus warnings. So go back and edit and if you’ve inserted images from another site by using the URL, then take the image out. It’s dangerous.

Is there something I can run to tell me where the problem might be hiding? Who knows how long this has been happening and I am afraid I will have to shut down the blog and restart it if I can’t find a solution.

It’s highly unlikely your WordPress.com site would have anything like a virus, as we prevent users from uploading or displaying malicious code.
Occasionally someone will (even inadvertently) link to a site flagged as having malware, which will cause a malware alert to pop up in some browsers. My guess is that could be what someone saw, although I just ran your site through Securi and it found no issues:

Ask the person reporting your site as having a virus to send you a screen shot – let you know the message they are getting and the type of Antivirus they are using – sometimes an AV program will give a false positive – then someone needs to go back to the AV company and ask them to address the problem
