Virus warning

Recently, somebody told me that Sky was blocking my WordPress blog as ‘adult/pornography’. I complained to Sky, who blamed Symantec, and said a few days ago that both they and Symantec has re-categorised my blog as a blog. Since then, I’ve been trying in vain to contact Symantec to obtain an explanation and to assess the loss of traffic caused.

Today I got an angry comment posted on my blog that accused me of spreading viruses.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @johnallmanuk, this should be resolved now, but if you see it again, please let us know right away. These details will help:

    – A screenshot
    – the exact URL you were visiting
    – the time (which is typically in the screenshot)
    – the IP address for the device (you can use whatismyip.com)

    Thank you in advance!

When you say, “This should be resolved now”, do you mean to say that you have discovered and fixed a problem that would have caused somebody to see a virus warning relating to ftblltrck.com, which is what I have learnt happened from the reader who complained?

  • @johnallmanuk We suspect this came through an advertiser, who we have blocked. If your user complains again or if you see this sort of thing yourself, can you update us?
