Visibility while still in creation?

I don’t want my blog visible to anyone until I’m ready to go live. This will take some time for me – weeks… I am adding and playing until I have what I want on here, which will include posts on different pages. I just saw ‘2 views’ – what does that mean? Can people see what I’m doing?? That would be really bad for the blog. It mustn’t be public until it’s ready. What am I doing wrong? Every time I write something, it will only save if I click ‘publish’. Advice! :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. To prevent anyone from seeing your site until you’re ready, you’ll need to set it to private. Then no one can see it unless you invite them. When you’re ready you can then just set it back to Public. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Note that while it’s set to private you won’t be able to add all the sharing buttons. If you want to add those you’ll need to do it after setting the blog back to public.

  • Oh, also be aware that for private blogs the stats page will show your own views, so don’t be alarmed if you still see views being recorded.
