Visitor count appears to be not working

That is good news because there is a slew of threads that others created https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/stats

My problem is the follower count. I know of several people who subscribed and I checked in real time, but no updates to my count. Patience is the virtue, I guess.

Mine is not working either, it is stuck on 3 visitors. but seems to be happening to a lot, so it must be a bug.

Mine is also acting up. Though I do have a few more visitors now. However, count has been off since late Saturday night for me. I have a ratio of roughly 2.00.
The blog I need help with: http://www.floatingindreams.com

My visitors count has started moving again but both the visitors count and the page views count yesterday and today have been much lower than normal.

Hi, everyone
We’re having some ongoing trouble with the visitor stats and the team is working hard to figure out what’s causing it and fix it for good.
For now I can assure you that the view stats are correct, it’s only the unique visitors number that is off, but we’re working now to restore that data to the stats pages.
We’ll update you here if there is any news.

hello. i have noticed my last two posts stats do not seem to be reflecting the actual number of views. (i am getting feedback on facebook on posts i have shared yet the number of views stays at zero – or very few) is this a glitch that happens from time to time? how do i fix it? with thanks. lindi

Keep in mind that some of your followers might be subscribed via email. If they read your post in an email, it’s not counted in stats.
We also serve your blog’s RSS feed to blog aggregators like Bloglovin, and people can follow your blog’s feed in their own feed readers like Flipboard, Feedburner, etc. Some of those services provide stats to us, but not all, so people reading your posts in a feed reader like that also won’t appear in your stats.
The only stats we can accurately track are people who visit your site directly in their browser, or who read your posts in the WordPress.com Reader or apps. But you are definitely also getting views from other sources that we are not able to track.
On Facebook it’s also common for people to comment on a post without actually clicking on the link and reading the whole thing, so don’t discount that possibility either :)

My views plummeted in November, and I was told that posts that were read in my followers’ readers weren’t necessarily included in the views figures. Also, I’d have more likes than views some days. Nothing adds up. In my dashboard ‘All Posts’ page, the number of Comments are showing, but the column for Likes is empty.
Latest thing is views didn’t change for over 12 hours as if I was ‘locked’ or turned off. Today is not much better. -
That makes sense, however, I have also noticed that throughout the day the visitor numbers are lower than the views, and then the views start to catch up later in the day. Still not quite accurate, and yes in some cases they don’t count in an email look, but I noticed that some emails did count as a look. I don’t know how hard it is for wordpress to change the software for the counts, but I think that is the problem.

I notice that up until November you’ve had an abnormally high view-to-visitor ratio – as high as 12 views per visitor. A more normal ratio is between 2 and 3 as you’re getting now. And while your views have fallen, your visitor count is staying more or less the same.
Have you by any chance been making use of traffic-sharing sites to drive traffic to your blog? If so, then the reason for your drop in views is that we’ve recently made some changes with the result that views from those kinds of sites are not counted anymore. It is now only counted when someone actually views your page in an open browser tab, not when they merely load your site in a new tab without ever switching to that tab.
Also, I’d have more likes than views some days.
This is because it is possible for people to like your posts in the Reader without clicking on the post itself. A view will only be generated if they click on the post, but not if they like it while scrolling past it in the Reader.
In my dashboard ‘All Posts’ page, the number of Comments are showing, but the column for Likes is empty.
I see content in both those columns on your All Posts page. Can you please try clearing your browser cache and let me know if that makes any difference? That should also help with the lag in stats you’re experiencing – from what I can see your stats are updating as they should, so the problem might be in your browser.

I have also noticed that throughout the day the visitor numbers are lower than the views, and then the views start to catch up later in the day.
Visitor numbers refer to the unique visitors to your site, while views are the total number of pageviews. If someone visited your site and viewed twenty pages, it would register one visitor and twenty views. So, it’s normal for the former to be lower than the latter.
in some cases they don’t count in an email look, but I noticed that some emails did count as a look
If someone clicks on the link in the email to visit your site in their browser, it is counted as a view. That’s why you’ll sometimes see an email link in your referrer stats. But if they read the post in the email without clicking through to your site it’s not counted as a view, as we have no way to track if someone reads an email notification.
I hope that clarifies it for you.
