Visits on page from South Korea

Hello,
My page has recently gotten daily visits from South Korea. Is this something I should worry about? There is no reasons why I should get these visits on my litte page. I think perhaps these visits started after i posted a link to my page on my Instagram profile.

Your site is public and therefore visible to anyone in any country. Visitors from South Korea may have discovered your site through search engines, the Reader or social media.
I think having visitors from around the world is a positive thing and over time you may see more countries appear in that list :)

I have had a WordPress site for just over a year, and I too have started to get frequent visits from South Korea. Of course we welcome visitors from all countries — that’s why we have websites and blogs. But I too find it a little odd, as I have a pattern of visitors from various English-Speaking countries, and South Korea does not fit that pattern.
My site is not linked to any social media, so I don’t think your Instagram link is necessarily the reason for this.
I have also noticed an increase in spam email recently. Does anyone know whether these two things might be connected? Anyone have any thoughts?

Dear Gemma and Katrina,
I absolutely agree! I welcome visitors from any country, of course. But, as Katrina also explains, I just find it a bit strange. For me it has also corresponded in an increase of spam and false user accounts trying to friend me on Facebook.
It is not to out South Korea in any special way, it is simply the pattern that I see.

Spam emails aren’t connected to a single country, so it’s hard to pin down one source. Also, a change in visitor patterns doesn’t guarantee you will start to receive an influx of spam emails.
Visitors will not be able to see your email address unless you choose to display it on your WordPress.com site — which we don’t recommend for this very reason. We don’t share your email address with third parties so the spammers have found it from another source.
