Visual database of books with ability to filter by genre

My goal: Create a visual database of books that users can filter by genre. Ideally I would like a tiled display of book covers with a banner over them containing title, author, and genre information. Site users would be able to filter which books display by selecting a genre from a filter drop-down.

Is this possible in WordPress? If so, what would I need to do to make it? If this is not possible on WordPress, can anyone give me the technical words for what I’m talking about in web-design language? I have no idea how to search for it because I don’t know what it would be officially called.

I’ve only ever made blogs and I have no idea if this is doable on WordPress or how I would go about making it. But I intend to get it done somehow! Thanks!

    Some ideas,

I believe the Gallery block only allows text on top of the surface of images. However, you can set the images as Links to other places, such as a book review or a bookstore listing for instance.

You can use the Row, Stack, and Column blocks to create a ledger of images with text detailing each item. You may also include an Excerpt block with some information about the book and a link to “read more.”

The Row and Stack blocks can be added on top of each other in different configurations. For example, they can be used to create a Chess board pattern or even Tetris blocks.

This may be a bit labor-intensive though. Maybe other people will have more ideas.

I was just thinking, you may be able to find a 3rd party Theme either for free here on WordPress or for sale elsewhere that will do exactly what you want. Likely, someone has already created what you want, you just need to find it.

You can search online for WordPress themes. There are a couple of sites that sell them. There is a guide for installing custom themes here:

This feature is available on sites with the WordPress.com Business or Commerce plan. If your site has one of our legacy plans, it is available on the Pro plan. In addition to our collection of themes, you can upload third-party themes to your WordPress.com site, including themes from WordPress.org, popular marketplaces like Themeforest, and even themes you have custom-made for your website.

I just stumbled across the Query Loop block and I think it would be perfect for what you want to do and would be much easier than my previous suggestions.

Use the Query Loop block to display blog posts (or other content types such as pages, testimonials, or projects) anywhere on your site. This block is similar to the Blog Posts block, but with greater flexibility to display your content using many different parameters and visual layouts. This guide will show you how to use it. Add the Query Loop Block The Query Look block may already be add
