Visual editor

Suddenly the ‘show/hide kitchen sink’ button is now called ‘Toolbar Toggle’ and when I click on it to open the second row of buttons, the ‘Paste from word’ button is missing, the ‘style’ drop-down menu doesn’t say ‘format’ at the top and the text colour palette doesn’t say ‘more colours’. This has just happened when earlier today it was all working fine. Does anyone have any ideas?

Staff are making changes to the editor today so you may want to find something else to do.

We have removed the “Paste as Word” button from the toolbar, but this should not affect your ability to paste Word documents into WordPress.com.

You can still modify the color of text within a post by using the text color button in the editor, which was not removed.
For your background colors and other custom colors, go to Appearance > Customize.

Yes, I am aware that the text color button is still there.
But my point was that all three of the additional Custom Color selectors that used to be available from the Text Color button have been removed. Those of use who use text colors outside the limited range provided by the palette will now be obliged to code for these.

Ah, gotcha. I’m sorry about that. As it turns out, that is another change with the upgrades we’ve made, and that are described in my previous link.
You can update the color code in the Text Editor if you wish.
