Visual Editor and Formatting Difficulties
-
I can’t post.
I’ve tried typing directly into your new visual editor, I’ve tried posting via Journler and I’ve tried editing what I’ve posted via Journler. The result is that I always end-up with really bad formatting.
Look at this
http://m2b8.com/2007/06/19/episode-1-productivity-post/
No matter what I do, I can’t get individual paragraphs. Even when I switch between the visual and code views I lose it.
I’ve torn my hair out.
Any help would be appreciated.

So, what’s Journler?
And what are you doing to determine where the paragraph breaks are? I don’t see any p tags in your post except for hte very beginning and the very end.
-
I’ve added <p>s but they even disappear when I switch between the views in the editor.
Also, I’ve just noticed that the podcast episode is being drawn as a string of hex!
Not a good day!
I’ll add some paragraphs in the visual editor to see if they stay…
-
I just added paragraphs by hitting return in the right place in the visual editor, the page is still the same…
I’ll do it now in the code editor – might take a few minutes…
-
I’ve just tried, and when I switched to the code editor the first link was repeated four times.
I’ll correct it and keep going.
-
Add the p’s in the code tab of the editor. The visual tab is not for adding in code. You may even want to try the regular text editor as some of us like it better. You can switch between them at Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile -> Uncheck the box at the top and click on Save Changes.
Still would like to know what Journler is.

I have paragraphs, but the links are borked. I’ll try to correct.
My m4a link is not showing as an enclosure on my feed!
Aaaaaaaaaargh

@drmike
Here’s the link http://journler.com/
Journler 2.5 requires MacOS 10.4 Tiger or better. Older versions of Journler are still available for MacOS 10.3.9 Panther users. Download Journler v1.17 for MacOS 10.3.9 here. Journler is not available for version of the MacOS prior to 10.3.9.Could this be a browser issue? Or a Journler version issue?

I’ll try the other preference, http://www.journler.com for journler, which is a very good text database system.
If there is a recommended client for the Mac I would like to know about it. Drafts are critical for me, as are offline features. I can’t make the drafts in WP work.
I added the code in the code window and returns in the visual pane.
I’m using Safari 3.
Many thanks

Safari has major issues. Using firefox or camino is recommended. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=12181&page&replies=3#post-87219

That’s a shame, it works perfectly in all my other web apps!
I’ve noticed no difference between the 2 and 3 versions and I’m running a Mac.
Thanks for the heads-up.
Having said that, WP is suddenly causing problems with text supplied by Journler also.
Should I not use the XML output?
It used to work, but my recent posts have been text dropped into J rather than written in it.
Any assistance with this and the enclosure problem would be appreciated.
-
Journler works if you set it NOT to use XML in the preferences pane.
Glory be.
I’ll try to solve the m4u problem tomorrow!
-
I’m having exactly the same problems you are. I put in formatting code, save — and it’s back to the wrong thing I had originally. Everything was fine until this new feature was added. Looked great – now I look like a techno-weenie.
-
The problem he’s having is with Journler. If you’re using that, do what he did and set it not to use XML in the preferences pane.
What new feature are you discussing? A new WP feature? Which?
