visual editor breaks code in text editor

    I am fairly new to using code. I am using Atom to write the code, checking it and then pasting it to wordpress.com text editor. My site will eventually have hundreds of images. These are all uploaded from photoshop and should all be the correct size.

    I have been trying to paste images into the page using the visual editor, after I have entered the words using the text editor.

    When I preview I find that the <details> tag has been broken.

    I am still building my sites so if you look it will seem chaotic.

    My questions are

    1) Am I making an error or is the problem caused by wordpress?

    2) Is the <details> tag not supported?

    3) Would the problem disappear if I switched to Gutenberg?
